Dr Gerrie Ebersöhn
Managing Director
Dr Gerrie Ebersohn is the Managing Director of the firm and a highly respected attorney with more than two decades of litigation experience. He obtained his LLD from the University of the Free State in 2002, a milestone that reflected both his academic dedication and his deep commitment to the legal profession.
Gerrie began his career as an Associate at Hofmeyr Herbstein & Gihwala Inc. (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr), where he laid a solid foundation in commercial law and litigation and established the firm in 2005. Since then, he has built a formidable reputation as a tenacious litigator, known for his sharp legal mind, strategic insight, and commanding courtroom presence.
With extensive experience as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, Gerrie has appeared in the High Court, Labour Court, Labour Appeal Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, and Constitutional Court, handling a wide array of complex, high-stakes matters. His advocacy style is incisive and pragmatic, making him a formidable opponent and a trusted advisor to his clients.
Gerrie specialises in Dispute Resolution and Employment Law. His practice extends across various sectors. He has significant experience in litigation and advisory work in amongst other the aviation industry, the motor industry, insurance industry and the development and construction sector, where he frequently advises on commercial disputes, and employment matters unique to those environments. His industry-specific expertise and depth of knowledge enables him to provide tailored legal solutions that are both effective and commercially practical.
His work in Employment Law has positioned him as a sought-after and well – known legal strategist. Gerrie has acted in landmark cases and is known for his ability to navigate complex workplace disputes and litigation involving executive, collective bargaining, governance and trade union matters.
Gerrie is also passionate about legal education and the development of the profession. He has previously lectured in Company Law and continues to mentor young attorneys and candidate legal practitioners within the firm. His commitment to knowledge-sharing is a hallmark of his leadership, and he remains a strong advocate for the professional growth of the next generation of legal practitioners.

Lizel van Deventer
Director
Lizel van Deventer is a Director at the firm and a recognised expert in Corporate and Commercial advisory, Compliance, Dispute Resolution, Employment Law and Insurance Law. Approaching a decade of experience, Lizel is known for her precision, strategic insight, and leadership in the legal profession.
She has successfully represented clients in high-stakes matters before the High Court and Labour Courts across the country and regularly advises both her local and international clients on employment law, corporate structuring, governance compliance, and business risk. Her clients span over jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, France, Spain, Botswana, Zambia, and other African regions. She is currently studying towards qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales, further enhancing her ability to support clients in cross-border legal matters.
Lizel holds the qualifications of Attorney (with Right of Appearance in the High Court), Notary Public, and Company Secretary. She is a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA) and serves as an independent trustee for private trusts and as a company secretary to companies across various sectors, advising on governance, compliance, business structures and board effectiveness.
Lizel is often called upon to provide strategic insight into high-risk matters, bringing a unique combination of legal rigour and commercial acuity, which has seen her conducting forensic investigations in both commercial, insurance and employment law contexts, ranging from internal governance breaches, post event inspections, to complex workplace misconduct investigations.
With a deep understanding of business, a firm command of the law, and a passion for transformation, Lizel is a strong voice for women in law. She actively mentors younger professionals and champions inclusive leadership within the legal industry.

Bianca Vos
Senior Associate
Bianca obtained her B.Com LL.B and LLB from the North West University and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 2018. With her commanding presence in both the boardroom and the courtroom, Bianca is not only an integral part of the Ebersohns legal team, but has been recognised as an expert and trusted partner in navigating Family Law, Employment Law and Dispute Resolution matters with clarity, authority and care.
In the field of Family and Private Law, Bianca offers clients practical legal insight and a deeply empathetic approach. She handles high-stakes divorces, parental rights and maintenance disputes, surrogacy, adoption, and relocation matters with the sensitivity and strength required in these deeply personal cases. Bianca is often sought out for her strategic thinking, personal touch and firm stance she takes to protect and advance her clients’ rights and best interests.
As a seasoned litigator and dispute resolution specialist, Bianca has handled a wide variety of matters. She frequently appears in the CCMA, Bargaining Counsels and Labour Court, and has a particular passion for opposed motions, trials and complex matters that require precision and legal strategy. Her work in Employment Law includes advising both employers and employees in a wide array of sectors on issues ranging from unfair dismissals and workplace discrimination to restructuring, executive disputes and disciplinary processes.

Anette Cummings
Associate
Anette brings a wealth of expertise to every property transaction, specialising in residential and commercial property transfers and all aspects of Property Law. With extensive experience across a wide range of property-related services, Anette often attends to consolidations and subdivisions, sectional title developments and registrations, residential and commercial property transfers, bond registrations and cancellations as well as commercial and residential property development.
Known for a client-centred approach and a meticulous eye for detail, she ensures peace of mind by providing clear guidance and proactively advising her clients. Shannon Mangnall
Associate
Shannon obtained her LLB degree from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and has since developed into a versatile and dedicated legal practitioner with a primary focus on Family Law, Private Law and Dispute Resolution. Her work is characterised by a compassionate yet firm approach. She is well regarded for her ability to navigate sensitive legal matters with discretion and care.
Shannon advises clients in a wide range of Family Law & Private Law matters, including divorce, maintenance disputes, parental rights and responsibilities, care and contact arrangements, Rule 43 applications, and protection orders in cases of domestic violence. Her experience also extends to adoption and surrogacy, where she guides clients through the intricate legal processes involved in building or expanding families, often in close collaboration with social workers, agencies, and the courts.
She also advises on International Family Law matters, assisting clients with cross-border relocation disputes, foreign custody enforcement, international parenting plans, and the recognition of foreign divorce orders. Her understanding of jurisdictional complexities allows her to provide strategic guidance in matters that cross legal systems.
In addition to her family law practice, Shannon is involved in Dispute Resolution where she represents clients in both the Magistrate’s and High Courts throughout the country. Her work in this sphere of law includes commercial and residential evictions, commercial disputes, delictual claims and general civil claims where she is known for her methodical and solutions-driven approach.

Shannon along with her trusted team of advisors also advises clients on Wills and Estates, offering support in both estate planning and estate administration. In addition, she advises executors and family members in the administration of deceased estates, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, managing reporting processes to the Master of the High Court, and facilitating the orderly distribution of assets. Reinhard Evans
Associate
Reinhard Evans is an Associate at the firm, where he plays an integral role within the Employment Law and Dispute Resolution teams. He joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney and quickly distinguished himself through his strong analytical skills, commitment to his clients, and deep understanding of the law—leading to his appointment as an Associate.
Reinhard focuses extensively on Employment Law, where he represents both employers and employees in a broad range of matters. His experience includes unfair dismissal disputes, constructive dismissal claims, disciplinary proceedings, retrenchments (both individual and large-scale), incapacity and misconduct processes, and internal grievance and performance procedures. He appears regularly in the CCMA, Bargaining Councils, and Labour Court, and has a strong track record of resolving employment disputes through strategic negotiation and effective litigation.
He is also a core member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution team, with Right of Appearance in the High Court, and actively litigates across various courts in South Africa. Reinhard has been involved in urgent applications, opposed motion proceedings, contractual disputes, and interdicts, handling matters with a combination of legal precision and commercial awareness.
His growing reputation also extends beyond South African borders—Reinhard has contributed to the firm’s international advisory mandates, including the preparation of multi-jurisdictional employment law matrices for global clients. These projects have required close collaboration with international teams, in-depth jurisdictional research, and practical guidance tailored to cross-border workplace environments.
In addition, Reinhard is passionate about Sports Law, a niche area in which he combines legal skill with personal interest. He offers servicesd such as advising sporting federations, clubs, and professional athletes on governance, compliance, disciplinary matters, and contractual negotiations, offering bespoke legal support in a highly specialised sector.

Braden Richards
Associate
After completing his B.Com LL.B and LL.B degree at the University of the Witwatersrand Braden joined Ebersohns as a Candidate Attorney and was retained as an Associate.
Braden is a dynamic attorney with a strong interest in business, restructuring, and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE). His practice spans corporate and commercial law, employment law and dispute resolution, with a growing reputation for delivering practical, business-minded legal solutions.
Braden plays an integral role in the firm’s Company Secretarial and Corporate Governance work, assisting clients with regulatory compliance, board support and transactional implementation. His passion for business law is evident in his proactive approach to client matters, especially those involving commercial strategy, restructuring and transformation.
